Sidney Crosby on being cleared for contact in practice:

“When you’ve waited this long you just want to make sure you do everything right,” … “It’s exciting. It’s hard to be patient at this point. Getting closer. Just want to make sure I respond well.”
"The Leafs, who matter to Torontonians more than all the other teams combined, have not won the Stanley Cup since 1967, and they haven’t made the playoffs in a franchise-record six seasons. The only team with a longer dry spell is the Florida Panthers. The Leafs’ major source of hope seems to be Brian Burke himself, but when the major source of your dreams is a front-office guy, you are in a dark place. Cheering a GM, to me, is hitting rock bottom."

The Winnipeg Jets just dropped their new logo. At first glance, we dig.

The design for the new logo, which was developed in partnership with Reebok and the NHL, was inspired by the logo of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Epic Boston Red Sox hat hack.

At Fenway Park, the vendors wear yellow shirts and yellow Red Sox hats.  I was at a game two days after the Bruins had won the Stanley Cup.  One vendor was excited enough to make some modifications, turning his oddly-colored Sox cap into an oddly-appropriate Bruins tribute.

This awesome sauce tribute video should be the official trailer for the Jets return to Winnipeg. If it doesn’t get your heart pumpin’ as a Jets fan, nothing will. Oh yeah, and it’s produced by a fan.

YouTube write-up by fan:

A video I made after the Jets were officially back in the NHL. Found all the clips online and put this together to the song by John Murphy, “The Surface of the Sun”. This was just for fun, don’t have any permissions [except for Winnipeg 4000, thanks man] so please don’t sue me.

No confirmation yet as to what team Jaromir Jagr will sign with as reports indicate he will return to the NHL after playing the past three seasons in Russia. Side note: Here’s hoping he brings back that fantastic mullet.

ckck:

I hope the recently resurrected Winnipeg Jets bring their 80s logo back with them when they return to the NHL this fall because it is pretty damn sweet in all its awkward, retro glory.

True dat.

Don Cherry sportin’ a suit resembling that of my grandma’s plastic covered couch.

Hilarious pic of the day: Bill Simmons aka @sportsguy33 celebrates as Bruins center Rich Peverley scores in a 4-0 route of the Vancouver Canucks during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

I think we can all agree that Aaron Rome’s hit on Nathan Horton was late. But dirty?

It’s amazing how the green and white vertical stripes bring out the blue in Don’s eyes.

We feel like this should have it’s own Tumblr.

Fingers crossed, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the Thrashers may be on the move to Winnipeg.

The Atlanta Spirit has begun negotiations with True North Sports and Entertainment on the sale of the Thrashers, which would result in relocation to Winnipeg, according to a person familiar with the NHL’s sale process.

A deal has not been completed and it is also not known how long the two sides have been negotiating. However, the fact that talks are on-going could mean the Thrashers would relocate to Manitoba perhaps as soon as next season.

Don’t get too crazy just yet Winnipeg, you never know what may happen? But you may want to start dusting off that Jets gear.
