The Sidney Crosby comeback is complete: 2 goals, 2 assists, 4 points and a first star nod. Here’s a vid of Sid scoring his first goal of the night, top shelf where Mama hides the cookies.

Sidney Crosby on being cleared for contact in practice:

“When you’ve waited this long you just want to make sure you do everything right,” … “It’s exciting. It’s hard to be patient at this point. Getting closer. Just want to make sure I respond well.”

Sidney Crosby shows off his hand-eye coordination. You know you’re amazing when you can score from the Zamboni entrance. Fake?

Sidney Crosby scores in overtime to give Canada it’s 14th gold of the Vancouver Games, breaking the record for most gold medals at a Winter Olympics. Congratulations Canada!

Hat tip to the U.S. team for a great game.

The Vancouver 2010 Olympics are finally here. But, before they start we thought we’d take a look at some predictions. When discussing predictions we must surrender our attention to what is considered the holy grail of sports predicting resources, Sports Illustrated.

Sports Illustrated is picking Canada to be second-best at this month’s Olympics in Vancouver. In its Feb. 8 edition, the sports magazine projects the Canadian team to finish with 30 medals at the Games - 10 gold, 11 silver and nine bronze. Germany is predicted to lead the way with 35 medals, including 11 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze. Sports Illustrated thinks the Americans will finish third with 27 medals; seven gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze. The Germans topped the medal count at the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy with 29 medals. The Americans were second with 25, followed by the Canadians with 24.

We love the fact that Sports Illustrated has Canada finishing 2nd in the overall medal count. However, we hope that the cover of the Canadian Olympic preview issue doesn’t put the dreaded SI curse on Sidney Crosby and Co.
