Bubba Watson still on the magazine cover grind after his incredible playoff victory at the Masters. This week Bubba graces the cover of Golf World Magazine. Lookin’ good, Bubba.
Great photo of “the shot” pulled off by Bubba Watson that won him the 2012 Masters. Hope you’re enjoying that green jacket, Bubba.

Once again Bill Simmons puts everything sport [The Masters] into perspective in his latest article, The gift of Tiger Woods.
“….I am supposed to think that he’s a poor role model — that he’s an adulterer, that he’s selfish, that he’s a phony, that he behaves badly on golf courses, that he’s someone I wouldn’t want my son to emulate some day. That’s horses—-. I want my son to know that people screw up, that nobody is perfect, that you can learn from your foibles. I want my son to watch “The Natural” someday, hear Roy Hobbs say, “Some mistakes you never stop paying for,” and know that it’s not just words in a movie. I want my son to know that you haven’t lived until you’ve fought back, that you haven’t won until you’ve lost, that you can’t understand what it’s like to relish something until you’ve suffered, too. I want him to understand that it’s the 21st century, that we sit around picking our heroes apart all day, that we expect them to be superhuman at all times, that we get pissed off when they aren’t, that it’s hypocritical if you really think about it.” → [Continue reading…]
There are a lot of Tiger haters out there, but I have to say Simmons is spot on with this one. I guess that’s why they call him ‘The Sports Guy”.
Sleep tight… Rory and Jason.
“I played myself back in the tournament. I’m three back but we have got a long way to go. It’s going to be fun.” — Tiger Woods
The Masters Par-3 contest on the iPad. What would Sam Snead think?
You know what was awesome? Phil Mickelson’s ridiculous recovery shot from the pinestraw at Augusta’s 13th hole during last year’s Masters. A seemingly impossible shot to most, Mickelson threaded a 6-iron in between two trees, over the tributary to Rae’s Creek landing it softly on the green, setting himself up for an eagle putt — on his way to green jacket No. 3.
“The greatest shot of his life.” — Sir Nick Faldo
I’ve always envied the schedule of CBS’s Jim Nantz this time of year. Three weeks of college hoops, announcing 18 games in 30 days. Then he heads to Augusta for the Masters immediately following National Championship game, it’s every basketball/golf nerd’s dream.
“When I get there [Augusta] on Tuesday, people will see me, and they get this shocked look on their faces. ‘Weren’t you just on TV last night? How did you get here?’ But the Masters lives with me throughout the year. In the fall, months after the Masters, the first place people ask me about is Augusta…”
‘One Shining Moment’ and ‘A Tradition Unlike Any Other’ all within a span of a week — it just blows my mind. So excuse me while I live vicariously through Jim this week, minus the cheesy banter and blazer of course.
Masters week is finally here! Check out Bruce McCall’s greentastic Masters themed illustration for the cover of the current issue of The New Yorker. Red shirt? I wonder if this is Bruce’s way of saying Tiger has no chance?
With The Masters just around the [Amen Corner] we thought it would be neat to give a few shout outs to our favorite ‘Masters Moments’ leading up to granddaddy of them all April 7–10 at the historic Augusta National Golf Club.
It would virtually almost impossible not to mention the epicness that was the 1986 Masters Tournament when discussing our favorite Masters Moments.
The 1986 Masters Tournament was the 50th Masters Tournament and definitely ‘one for the ages’. At 46, Jack Nickluas was considered an old fogie by most with his last tournament win two years prior and his last Masters victory coming way back in 1975. However, this was one of those magical Spring weekends in Georgia that transcended sport as Jack Nicklaus turned back the clock closing with a final round 65 to win by one stroke over Tim Kite and Greg Norman, winning his 6th Masters and 18th career Major Championship.
Here’s a sneak peek at EA Sports’ Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters video game — set for a March 29th launch. We’re not going to lie, we’ve been waiting for this since 1997.

If you thought Phil Mickelson ate his wheaties (the breakfast of champions), think again. This picture was snapped Monday morning, gotta love that he’s wearing the green jacket through the Krispy Kreme drive-thru with the fam. Classic!
Photo: Andrew Redington/Getty ImagesIf restoring the roar was the goal this week at fabled Augusta National Golf Club, then mission accomplished. They say the Masters doesn’t begin until the back nine on Sunday and that couldn’t have been more true again this year. The roars were back!
Phil Mickelson looked shaky with the driver early, but managed to pull off some miraculous rescue shots to secure his third green jacket and 4th major championship of his illustrious career. Lefty the overwhelming sentimental favorite with his wife and mother both battling breast cancer, rolled in a clutch 15-foot birdie putt on the 12th hole, then followed it up on the 13th hole with what will probably go down as one of the most famous golf shots in Masters history. Mickelson’s drive ended up in the pine straw and came to rest near a tree, most golfers would have laid up, but not Phil. He decided to go for the green, the risk was worth the rewared setting up an eventual birdie propelling him to a three shot win over Lee Westwood.
With Westwood coming up short yet again, the label of best player never to have won a major will now be attached to his name until he closes the deal. With two third place finishes at last years British Open and PGA Championship and his strong second place finish today that win may come sooner rather than later.
Tiger Woods’ rollercoaster day ended in a 3-under (69) good for a tie for 4th. His inconsistent play resulted in a final round that never really had him in contention for what would have been a chance at his 5th green jacket. When we see him next is a huge question mark. He commented after the round that he’ll be taking some time off to ‘reevaluate’?
Anthony Kim and Nick Watney both shot a final found (65) with Kim firing a back nine (31) which included and electrifying eagle on 15. These are two rising stars that could definitely win multiple green jackets before their careers are over. Keep an eye on them in the upcoming majors this year.
With his 3rd Masters win Mickelson joins the likes of (Snead, Demaret, Player and Faldo) with three green jackets.
“We’ve been through a lot this year. It means a lot to share some joy together,” Mickelson said, his voice cracking as he spoke, “It’s been such an incredible week, an emotional week. And to cap it off with a victory is something I can’t put into words. “It’s something we’ll share for the rest of our lives.”
It’s been awhile since we’ve seen ties worn on the PGA Tour? Heck, who we kiddin’, we’ve never seen anyone wear a tie. Kudos to Ryan Moore for bringing SexyBack this week at the Masters.
