If you’re looking for a hilarious follow on twitter look no further than PGA Tour golfer, Andres Gonzales. Gonzales’ one-sided bromance with Tiger Woods through twitter has become almost as legendary as his handle bar mustache.

Here are a few of Gonzales’ tweets to Tiger of late:

“@TigerWoods you have a roommate yet for the Frys?”
“Person that is in charge of @TigerWoods twitter, please let him know i am interested a practixe eound at thw frys!!!!”

“@TigerWoods eating in player dining at reno-tahoe. Watching you on the TV…wow, you look nice. Like…REAL NICE!!!”

You have to hand it to Presidents Cup Captain Fred Couples and his early decision to select Tiger as one of his two Captain’s picks. By saying Tiger has already locked up a spot allows everyone to board the Tiger-hate train for a couple of days, a week at the most, and by the time the Presidents Cup rolls around everyone will have forgotten how unfair this pick was, right?

“There is no reason for me to wait till Sept. 26 to pick Tiger. He’s the best player in the world forever. Is he playing well right now? No. (But) he almost won (The Masters) four months ago so you don’t do that by playing poor golf,” Couples said. “In my opinion, when you’re the best player in the world for 12 straight years and you’re not on a team, there’s something wrong.”

It really was a lose-lose situation for the former Masters champ, I mean you pick Tiger and people say, “why did you pick Tiger?” Or, you don’t pick Tiger and people say, “why didn’t you pick Tiger?” Whether you’re a Tiger fan or not, the Presidents Cup is a much bigger and exciting spectacle with the 14-time major champ in the field.

Tiger, Tiger, Tiger Woods y’all! Tiger Woods’ opening tee shot at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. A missed fairway, but he’d go on to par the hole.

Check out the futuristic looking prototype golf shoe that Tiger Woods will be wearing as he makes his return to golf this week at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. We kind of think they exude that Marty McFly Back to the Future 2 vibe.

via hypebeast:

The majority of the upper consists of a polyurethane coated stretch fabric, also seen within the construction of NIKE Basketball’s Hyperfuse 2011. Part of the heel is created from recycled NIKE Air Max units melted into thread and then woven together to create a strong, breathable textile material. The FREE-inspired outsole is directly taken from NIKE Sportswear’s Special Field Boot designed for first-responders.

We’re seeing a lot of chatter around the Internets the past couple of days that Tiger Woods will probably shut it down for the rest of the 2011 season. Not really a surprise. Tiger’s current swing coach Sean Foley told Steve Elling of CBS Sports:

“We have not hit any balls,” Foley wrote Tuesday night. “And I have no idea what his plans are as far as when he plays again. It’s up to the doctors.”

See you in 2012, Tiger?

Memories.

Memories.

In the biggest breakup news since JLo and Marc Anthony, Tiger Woods announced Wednesday on his website that he will no longer be working with caddie Steve Williams.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it’s time for a change,” Woods said. “Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future.”

The saga continues…

It seems like every time Tiger takes an extended break from golf he grows [some] facial hair. Is it possible he’s getting an early start on a FedEx Cup playoff beard?

Tiger Woods makes an appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s U.S. Open preview issue. Wait for it…. The dreaded SI cover jinx strikes again.

The struggles continued Thursday at the Players Championship for Tiger Woods, withdrawing due to pain in his left knee and Achilles. The 14-time major champion shot a six-over-par, 42 on the front nine on the famed TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course before calling it quits.

It’s hard to believe a decade has passed since Tiger Woods’ victory at the 2001 Players Championship. Who can forget NBC analyst Gary Koch’s unforgettable call, “Better than most! Better than most! Better than most!” on the 17th green during Saturday’s 3rd round.

The epicness of this montage by NBC, which by the way were a dime a dozen when Tiger was in his prime, takes you back to a moment in time when everything seemed so effortless on the golf course for 25-year-old Tiger. Who would have thought ten years later there would be so much uncertainty surrounding him. What a difference a decade makes.

Once again Bill Simmons puts everything sport [The Masters] into perspective in his latest article, The gift of Tiger Woods.

“….I am supposed to think that he’s a poor role model — that he’s an adulterer, that he’s selfish, that he’s a phony, that he behaves badly on golf courses, that he’s someone I wouldn’t want my son to emulate some day. That’s horses—-. I want my son to know that people screw up, that nobody is perfect, that you can learn from your foibles. I want my son to watch “The Natural” someday, hear Roy Hobbs say, “Some mistakes you never stop paying for,” and know that it’s not just words in a movie. I want my son to know that you haven’t lived until you’ve fought back, that you haven’t won until you’ve lost, that you can’t understand what it’s like to relish something until you’ve suffered, too. I want him to understand that it’s the 21st century, that we sit around picking our heroes apart all day, that we expect them to be superhuman at all times, that we get pissed off when they aren’t, that it’s hypocritical if you really think about it.” → [Continue reading…]

There are a lot of Tiger haters out there, but I have to say Simmons is spot on with this one. I guess that’s why they call him ‘The Sports Guy”.
