The new team U.S.A. basketball Hyper Elite uniforms by Nike have dropped. The new threads are designed to give LeBron and company a little added help in bringing home gold this summer in London.

The important deets on the new and improved unis, courtesy of the Nike Blog:

The Jersey: The lightest jersey ever, the 3D-structured Dri-FIT strategically placed hem vents and mesh panels enhance breathability and circulation without adding bulky stitching. The 3D-structured Dri-FIT fabric also pulls sweat from the skin to reduce cling.

The Shorts: Made of 100% recycled polyester materials, a four-way stretch fabric allows for a full range of motion with side panels and laser-cut perforations for circulation and ventilation. The shorts also weigh an incredible 14 ounces lighter than typical pro basketball shorts.

Nike bringin’ the heat as usual.

Must Be The Unis

The Heat wearing their all black everything alternate uniforms Thursday night versus the Lakers brought back memories of my high school basketball coach and his theory on wearing black.

“Wearing all black uniforms gives you a ten point advantage before the ball is even tipped.”

It’s an interesting theory and I’m not about to go all debate club but the 98-87 win by the Heat makes me think that my high school basketball coach was on to something. Must be the unis.

Another week another new football helmet design by Nike. This time, it’s the University of Minnesota who will be sportin’ new lids for the 2012 season. It would be easy to go on and on about the specs of the helmet, but that’s kind of boring. Simply put, they’re pretty sick.

The blue is back in the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays unveiled their new logo and uniforms on Friday going back to the original logo the team was founded on in 1977.

“Updating our original logo, the strong affinity to go back to ‘Blue’ and returning the red Maple Leaf to the primary mark recognizes the classic look of which we feel baseball logos and uniforms should consist.” — Blue Jays President, Paul Beeston

What do you think of the new logo?

Via the Notre Dame Equipment twitter feed a photo of the helmet Notre Dame will wear for their “Shamrock Series Game” versus Maryland this weekend. Yikes! It’s safe to say that if Rudy Ruettiger had to wear this shamrock design he would’ve opted for another school. Okay maybe not, but it’s still pretty cheesy. Pro tip, Notre Dame: Stick with the solid gold helmet.

Boise State is one lucky college football team. Not only do they get to play on a nifty blue field but they get to wear these ballin’ Nike Pro Combat helmets. The uniforms aren’t too shabby either.
